Ijen Crater (2,769 m) , or Kawah Ijen, is a world-renowned volcanic crater located in Banyuwangi, East Java, Indonesia, attracting thousands of tourists and adventure seekers each year. Mount Ijen las eruption was 1999. The crater is famous for its extraordinary blue fire phenomenon, a rare natural event caused by the ignition of sulfuric gases that glow electric blue in the darkness—one of only two places in the world where this can be observed.
